Mr Kenneth R Woodburn

MBChB, MD, FRCSG (Gen)

Has been an NHS consultant in Vascular Surgery at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust since 1997. He qualified in Edinburgh in 1985, and trained as a specialist vascular surgeon in the vascular units at Glasgow and Edinburgh Royal Infirmaries. He studied vein surgery under Professor C.V. Ruckley before spending some time as a Fellow in Endovascular Surgery at the University of Sydney, Australia. His practice includes all aspects of arterial and venous disease. As well as treating varicose veins and other diseases of the veins he has a particular interest in endovascular (keyhole) aortic surgery, and has published a number of research papers on this subject and other areas of vascular disease. He has been undertaking endovenous day case local anaesthetic vein treatments in his NHS practice since 2006, and has carried out varicose vein injection treatments for nearly 20 years.


Mr Harvey Chant

BSc, MBChB, MD, FRCS (Gen)

Harvey Chant studied Physiology at Kings College before going on to qualify in medicine from St Georges Hospital, University of London. His early training was in Bath, London, Southampton and Exeter. With funding from the Royal Society and the Royal College of Surgeons he went on to a period of research in Manchester University with Professor CN McCollum. His specialist training in Vascular Surgery was based in the South West; in Truro, Plymouth and Bristol. He performed the first endovenous treatment in Cornwall and has been keen to promote the technique, demonstrating it on television and presenting to many regional meetings.

Mr Graham S G Riding

BSc, MBChB, FRCS (Gen)

Lead Vascular Surgeon at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, relocated to Cornwall with his family in 2007 to develop his specialist vascular practice. Previously, he was Consultant in Vascular and General Surgery in Blackpool. He studied medicine in Manchester, qualifying (with an intercalated degree in Physiology) in 1991. He received specialist vascular training in six centres in the Northwest of England and undertook clinical vascular research under Professor McCollum in Manchester, publishing and presenting on aspects of brain blood flow. In addition to his arterial surgical practice, he provides the full range of varicose vein treatments including laser therapy, radiofrequency ablation, foam sclerotherapy and varicose vein surgery.
